This dissertation aims to follow a path along Michel Foucault s History of
Sexuality. By placing this undertaking within the context of Foucalt s project as a whole,
the dissertation emphasizes its unfinished character: Foucault s death leaves a legacy to
philosophy by revealing the urgent character of three basic notions, which form what is
conventionally called the Ethics Period. Subejctivity, sexualilty and human nature
are instrumental keys to the understanding of the History of Sexuality within the context
of contemporary philosophy.
